Ontario Is Growing, But Infrastructure Isn’t
Ontario’s population is surging, but our infrastructure hasn’t kept pace. Subways sit on 1950s foundations, highways are jammed daily, and housing is out of reach for too many.
Ontario Connected: A Blueprint for Independence
We propose deep, multi-layer subway tunnels, a regional subway grid, and sustainable housing hubs. This isn’t just a transit plan—it’s an economic, housing, and climate strategy.
Why It Matters
Underground Hubs, Not Underground Cities
Ontario Connected does not propose permanent underground cities or forcing people to live underground. Instead, the vision is to build transit-linked hubs beneath and alongside major transit corridors.
These hubs can include:
- Affordable student housing and short-term accommodations
- Retail, grocery, and entertainment spaces
- Healthcare, education, and community facilities
- Connections to high-speed rail and subway lines
By integrating services directly with mobility, we relieve pressure on surface land, protect farmland and green spaces, and create sustainable options for communities. Above ground, Ontario’s towns and cities remain vibrant, natural spaces are preserved, and housing supply expands more intelligently.
A Plan for Everyone
Growth must be inclusive. Ontario Transit Vision commits to early and ongoing engagement with Indigenous communities, new immigrants, students, workers, and families so that benefits are widely shared and communities help shape outcomes.
